I held a brainstorming session today with my classmates to gather ideas around possible forms of Input and Output to the experience I will build. Mattias suggested I do some thinking around this question some time ago, and I decided this would be a good group excercise.
I started the session by showing a couple of abstract video clips that play with image and sound as an attempt to get attendees to shake off any ideas of function and purpose they may drag in from their own projects. The active part of the session followed, where I asked for both practical and more far-fetched ideas.

After about 10 minutes of ideas on inputs and 10 more on outputs, we improvised a way to match them up. It turned out differently than I first intended – in a good way. Instead of looking at the Ins and Outs and matching them in a more analytical way, we paired them up randomly. There were logical results and also some unexpected ones.

I’d like to do a second session with a new group of people to gather more ideas and maybe pull back the crazy factor a bit this time.
